Phone Interview

You applied for a new position and the company has contacted you for an interview. You are aware of the one on one interview and know that you have to show up on time, dress professionally and be prepared. However, it is a phone interview and while you may not be sitting across from an interviewer, you have to be just as prepared.

A phone interview or a phone screen are a means for a company to screen a potential candidate. It is typically a pre-interview. So if you do well during a phone interview, then you will move on to the next level or in other words, a formal interview. Don’t take it lightly, prepare just as if you are in a live interview.

Find a quiet place with a little distractions as possible.. A landline is ideal but If you are using a cellphone make sure you have clear reception and make sure your phone is charged. The last thing you want is a call to drop in the middle of the interview.. Make sure you have done your research on the company and prepare notes. Have the job description and your resume handy. Smile and dress nice. You want to present yourself as if you are at an in person interview.
